A Virtual Science Experiement?

In the absence of specific materials, a science lab or other resources… teachers can utilise the class IWB for; virtual science experiments, interactive games or activities.

Consider the learning experience and interactive game below....

I conducted an experiment with my EPL class ‘Can pumice float?’ in which learners studied the characteristics of a piece of igneous rock (pumice), predicted what would happen when the pumice was placed in water and then tested their predictions.  Further tests were conducted to assess the extent to which the rock is durable and permeable.

After conducting the experiment, the learners were given the opportunity to conduct the same experiment with other rocks… however it was over the internet on the IWB. This is just another example of the ways in which ICTs can be integrated across the curriculum to extend and enhance learning experiences.
